About

Rooted in Daytona Beach

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964, but Daytona Beach has been home for most of my life. My family moved here in 1980 when I was 16 years old after my father accepted the position of Risk Manager for the City of Daytona Beach.

I graduated from Spruce Creek High School in 1982 before earning a bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Alabama in 1987. My studies focused on journalism and political science—subjects that sparked a lifelong interest in public service and civic engagement.

A Career of Service

Long before I entered the classroom, I had the opportunity to work for the City of Daytona Beach. During the summer of 1983, I worked in the Department of Public Works, and in 1987 I joined the Parks and Recreation Department. Those experiences gave me an appreciation for the dedicated employees who keep our city running every day.

Since 1999, I have proudly served as a social studies teacher at Pine Ridge High School. Teaching has allowed me to help prepare the next generation of informed citizens while reinforcing the importance of community involvement, responsibility, and public service.

Today, I also serve on the FAITH Organization Flooding Research Committee, working with others to find practical solutions to one of the most important issues affecting our community.

A Commitment to Public Service

My commitment to serving our community led me to run for the Florida House of Representatives in District 28 in both 2022 and 2024. Those campaigns gave me the opportunity to meet residents from across the area, listen to their concerns, and advocate for practical, common-sense solutions.

Now, I’m focused on bringing that same commitment, experience, and dedication to the Daytona Beach City Commission, where I want to help ensure our city remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Family

My wife and I have been married since 1989, and family has always been at the center of our lives. We are proud parents of two daughters, Jessica and Amanda, and are blessed to have one grandchild. Living, working, and raising a family here has given me a deep appreciation for our community and a strong commitment to its future.

Why I'm Running

I’ve spent more than four decades living, working, and serving in Daytona Beach. I’ve seen our city’s strengths, and I’ve seen the challenges we need to address if we’re going to build an even better future.

I’m running for the Daytona Beach City Commission because I believe we need leaders who listen first, plan thoughtfully, and make decisions based on what’s best for our neighborhoods and taxpayers. Whether it’s addressing flooding, investing in our infrastructure, supporting public safety, encouraging responsible growth, or ensuring City Hall remains accountable to the people it serves, I’m committed to finding practical solutions that improve the quality of life for everyone who calls Daytona Beach home.

Our city has incredible potential. I want to help preserve what makes Daytona Beach special while preparing responsibly for the future.

I’d love to share more about my vision for our community. Visit my Issues page to learn more about the priorities that will guide me as your City Commissioner.
